Carl Wilcox has been a valued member of the Points West Community Bank family for many years. While we hate to see him go, we are excited to announce his retirement and wish him the best of luck in the future.
Over Carl’s 31 year tenure with Points West, he has held positions like VP Lending, Colorado HMDA and Security Officers, and he’ll be ending his career sharing branch management responsibilities. No matter his position, he worked hard to establish and cultivate relationships with customers and because of that, he’s walking away with hundreds of friendships from along his journey.
In the early years, Carl attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and received his Bachelor’s in Agricultural Education in 1973 and his Masters of Agricultural Education with a Minor in Adult and Continuing Education in 1979. After obtaining both degrees, Carl began his career as a Vocational Agricultural teacher and FFA advisor in Plainview and Bassett, Nebraska. However, after eleven years, he rerouted to the financial industry, taking his first banking role with Farm Credit of North Platte in Ogallala, Nebraska, and then Sterling PCA, in Yuma, Colorado. After two years in Northeastern Colorado, Carl joined Points West Community Bank in Haxtun and has been with us since 1991. He has been in the same building and office for two acquisitions (Haxtun Community Bank was acquired first by Deuel County State Bank and then First National Bank) and two name changes (Haxtun Community Bank to First National Bank changed to Points West)!
The people of the Haxtun recognize Carl as a very involved member of the community. He has been a member of the Lions Club since 1975, serving as a local officer and then Zone Chairman, Deputy District Governor and District Committee Chair multiple times. Carl has been a Haxtun Gun Club member for 31 years and an officer for 28 of those. He also tacks on 40+ years of membership to the Masonic Groups and is active in the United Methodist Church of Haxtun where he is a Certified Lay Speaker, Lay Servant Instructor, and has held multiple committee chairs.
We’d be remiss to not mention his wife, Laurie, who has been by Carl’s side since they married in 1984. Carl and Laurie are the parents of Matthew and Andrea. While Carl has always been an active member in the community, his wife and children have always been his first priority! We’re happy he can step away from the hours at the bank to give him even more time to spend with his family.
