We are pleased to welcome Joe Scherger, a banking industry veteran and yet another Husker alumni, to our Points West team!

Joe is well-known and well-respected around the Loveland area. He joins us after his career at Home State, Guaranty, and Independent Bank. As Business Developer, Joe will focus on creating and strengthening our relationships in and around Northern Colorado.

Joe sits on several boards, including Nebraska Bankers Association Credit Committee, Northern Colorado Economic Development Corporation, Northern Colorado Community Foundation, Great Plains Regional Medical Center and the North Platte Country Club.

He joined the Nebraska Bankers Association Credit Committee per request of our former and late CEO Tom Olson, Sr. Joe had been previously connected with many of our employees, including working with our current CEO Mark Brase back in Nebraska, and with our current Loveland team at Home State Bank.

Similar to Brase, Joe began his banking career in Nebraska at the National Bank of Commerce, but he was born and raised in Montana. Joe’s start in Nebraska began when he attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. While there, Joe played baseball for the Huskers from 1977-1980, receiving numerous by the Big Eight and NCAA. He was drafted in 1976 to the Minnesota Twins, in 1979 to the New York Mets, and finally in 1980 to the San Diego Padres organization where he played until 1982. Joe was also a member of the USA Baseball Team in 1979 against Japan and the Republic of China.

Like any great man says, Joe’s biggest accomplishment is being happily married to his wife for 37 years, and getting to be a father to four children, and grandfather to soon-to-be seven grandchildren!
